Cheri Dennis: Portrait Of An R&B Songstress - The Exclusive Interview By Adam Benjamin Irby

Cheri Dennis Cheri Dennis Cheri Dennis

I first met Bad Boy Records recording artist, Cheri Dennis at an R&B showcase here in New York a few months ago after being a longtime fan of her work. Well, see I met her, but I didn't know I met her. I know it sounds weird. I could try to explain it now but it's just one of those things where ya just had to be there. Thankfully I wrote a blog post about it so you all could catch up.

Last week I was given the magnanimous opportunity to interview Cheri Dennis for the blog and of course I jumped at it. We did a phone interview in which I asked her about her new album, "In And Out Of Love" (available on iTunes now and in stores February 26th, 2008), working with Diddy, comparisons to Faith Evans, her relationship with the gay community, the ballroom scene and more.

This is hopefully only the first of more celebrity interviews here at Adam's Web Log. It was a great experience so sit back, relax and enjoy it and don't forget to turn those speakers up. The interview features six bangin' tracks off the album. And when you're done be sure to surf on over to iTunes and buy it. All 16 tracks are only $8.99! It makes a great virtual stocking stuffer.

The order of the interview:
- "I Love You" feat. Jim Jones & Yung Joc
- "Portrait Of Love" feat. Yung Joc & Gorilla Zoe
- Interview Part 1
- "Act Like You Know"
- Interview Part 2
- "Remind You"
- Interview Part 3
- "Showdown"
- "Caught Up"
- Outro aka Lost At The Ball

Listen to the interview below:

Special shout out to Ra-fael Blanco and 2R's Entertainment & Media, thanks for everything!!!

Good Interview Adam. I am going to crown you "The King of Internet Media". Although I do like Cheri Dennis, The production is overdone on the CD. Its to much, for her light vocals. I do like "I Love U" and Portrait of Love".

P.S. I do want to hear or see you interview Faith man, so try and make that happen my dude.

GREAT! interview, I love Cheri D even more now. I was feeling lukewarm about her but the interview has made me HOT for her. I just love her as a person and the music is bangin. I love da 2006 single I Love You and Portrait of Love is my ISH, Caught Up is another one of my favorites.I will most definitely be picking up that album when it drops.

I love the interview!! I cant wait to see who else you run into.

;-)

I love her! She is one of the few artist to come across as authentic. Artists need to do interviews like this more often, as they are more intimate and can effectively present their point of view without the fatty gossip! And I really like the songs too! If it wasn't for the blog and interview, I don't think I would ever hear any of her music. I am now a fan and will buy the album.

Sounds like a good interview but i'ma really NEED for you to interview Ms. Amerie. I'm starting to die here waiting for "Because I Love It" while Europe basks in the glory of already having the album damnit!

Great interview Adam! I was wondering what was taking so long for Cheri's album to be released. Now I know. Cheri is so down-to-earth, so real. It's interviews like these that help listeners/fans get a better understanding of the person behind the music. I'm digging the music and will definitely download the album from iTunes. Looking forward to other interviews in the future!

Happy Holidays!
